The ‘other’ fast Saudi

Saleh Alsaif is the latest Saudi motorsports revelation. It all started in 2020 when he took part in his first Dakar and finished 12th in T4. This kick-started a rally-raid career that continued throughout that year, with numerous Baja participations, including the Baja Ha'il on Saudi soil. In 2021 he became the second Saudi to win a Dakar stage after Yazeed Al Rajhi, earning him the nickname "Captain Alsaif". Despite this victory at Wadi Ad Dawasir, he didn't manage to finish his second Dakar, with a DNF on stage 12. Last season, the Saudi finished second in the Baja World Cup after winning the Baja Sharqiyah, Baja Jordan and Baja Italia. With Spaniard Oriol Vidal as co-driver, Saleh didn't make it past stage 4 of the last Dakar. A disappointment that was tempered last February when he won the Jordan Baja in the company of the Russian Egor Okhotnikov. And they did it in style, as the duo made FIA Baja World Cup history by becoming the first T3 to win overall, all categories combined! ‘Captain Saleh’ will now be aiming to get back in the W2RC hunt at the Abu Dhabi round. In 2021, Saleh and Egor won a stage in the T3 category before finishing 10th overall.
