Krotov keen to get back on the pace

Author of an excellent World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies 2021 season with 3rd place, Denis Krotov has made some major changes recently. Firstly, he’s opted for a new co-driver. For 2021 the Russian pilot switched to the services of his compatriot Konstantin Zhiltvov. The most ‘titled’ Russian co-driver, Zhiltvov has now been four times on the World Cup podium with a 3rd place in 2020 alongside Martin Prokop and two 2nd places with Vladimir Vlasilyev in 2015 and 2016. He has also switched cars. For the 2022 Dakar the Russian went from a 4x4 Mini to the latest version of the two-wheel X-Raid buggy, as used by Peterhansel to win the 2020 Dakar. However, like Jakub Przygonski he wasn’t immediately on the pace in the new car, with a 28th place in Jeddah, far from what he proved capable of in his ‘old’ 4x4. Like ‘Kuba’, Denis will be keen to show his worth in Abu Dhabi, a race on which he finished in 3rd place less than 6 months ago. Currently 14th in the W2RC rankings, after the first round in Saudi Arabia, the Russian needs to get back up to speed quickly if he wants to defend is podium place in Morocco next October.
