- As Joao Ferreira’s co-driver, Filipe Palmeiro had a crazy busy 2024. They competed in 24 races in four different championships, three of which - the Portuguese championship, the European Championship and the Baja World Cup – they won!
- Now that they are racing for a factory team they are doing a few less events but a whole lot more testing, so Filipe still isn’t getting to spend so much time with his 2 year old son. Worse, his son now knows that bags coming out of the wardrobe means dad is going away! Filipe’s agricultural business has been similarly impacted. He’s given up growing mushrooms altogether and is now concentrating on chestnuts – the least time consuming farming activity he could find.
- Not that Filipe is complaining. He has been co-driving now for 25 years and is exactly where he dreamed of being. Way back in 2004, unable to find the funds but desperate to see what the Dakar was all about, he signed up as a photographer! He didn’t take too many photographs but spent a lot of time behind the wheel. From Morocco onwards he was the only one in his press car to actually do any driving
